Both times I've been to IML Weekend in Chicago, I've missed the actual International Mr. Leather Contest. The first time it was ignorance, this time a misplaced nap. After years of America's Next Top Model and Dog: The Bounty Hunter, I can be lulled into thinking that nothing at IML can shock me. Then it dawns on me that I have missed a contest where 40 percent of your score is based on a category called "Pecs and Personality." That's, um, like me 100 percent. I'm not sure I would score as well in "Leather Image."
 The weekend is more than just one contest; there's a separate Bootblack contest, porn-filled parties (TItan, COLT, Falcon, All Worlds, Hot House, Raging Stallion and others who throw celebrations while in town for the Grabby's), nearly a dozen "Leather Recovery" meetings and a legendary Leather Market in the basement of the Palmer House Hilton. This year they threw in Bear Pride on the same weekend, just to be safe. Be forewarned: by Saturday morning, even the elevator buttons have lube on them. I can't say the pics below are any safer.

 Marcus Allen/Timothy Boham was arrested on suspicion of murder while trying to flee to Mexico earlier today (in an ending that eerily echos that of Wash West's porn fiction feature The Fluffer.)
The picture of Boham that emerges in the wake of his arrest suggests a deeply troubled man who was struggling with his sexuality -- and temper.
 Although he was a fairly well-known porn star (he starred in over a dozen movies over the past few years, and was named "Freshman of the Year" by Freshman Magazine in 2003), he was a gun-collecting, homophobic straight man when away from the gay porn spotlight. Denver Post reports:
... Boham told Lara Holland, who lived in a Denver mansion on High Street in an apartment a floor below Boham, that he "sanitized" his apartment by thoroughly scrubbing it because a gay man had lived there previously, she said.
"He hated (gays)," she said. "He hated their lifestyle."
 I met Cory Koons last year while he was dancing at the Nob Hill Theatre. He came up to me, and I don't remember exactly what he said, but it was something really fucking obnoxious. He's got a real spark to him, this one, but I quickly learned that he's got the smarts to back his shit up (and a fierce "new wave hooker" wardrobe to boot).
At the time, Cory still hadn't thought up a last name. Though he didn't end up going with any of my suggestions, I was pleased that he did name himself after Jeff Koons, a modern artist we both really like.
He's filmed a bunch of movies this year, from raunchy Raging Stallion sex-a-thons to Studio 2000 twink-fests. I'm eager to see where in the porn spectrum he lands, as he seems well suited for both or anything in-between.
